A note from our founders

"We noticed that no one had ever brought the Moroccan rituals to Pakistan. So in 2024, we decided to import centuries-old Moroccan skincare — in its original form — for women here."

I — Heritage

From the Souss valley,
where the recipe never changed.

The Souss valley, Morocco

Nila is not a clay and not a mineral. It is the leaf of the indigo plant — Indigofera tinctoria — fermented until it surrenders its blue, then sun-dried and milled to a powder fine enough to move like silk.

It reached Morocco more than a thousand years ago, carried from India after the Islamic conquests, and took root in the warm, irrigated valleys of the Souss. A second river of it crossed the Sahara by caravan — through Timbuktu and Sijilmassa and down the Draa — where it traded alongside salt as one of the most valuable goods on the route.

In the deep south it became something more than a dye. The Tuareg wrapped themselves in indigo cloth until the colour entered their skin, and they were called the Blue People for it. It was never only decoration: in a place where the sun blinds and the wind strips skin, the blue was protection.

Saharan women took it into the hammam. Ground fine, mixed with beldi soap or rose water, left on the skin, wiped away. Mother to daughter. Never industrialised. In 1897 a German chemist synthesised indigo in a laboratory. Within a generation the plant version had all but vanished from world trade — cheaper to make, chemically identical, culturally hollow.

The powder in this pouch is the version that never changed. We are the first to bring it to Pakistan in its original Moroccan form — sealed at source, opened only when it reaches you.

Antibacterial action helps control acne-causing bacteria and excess oil.

05

Smooths texture

Fine grain gently lifts dead skin, leaving softness without abrasion.

Centuries of proof

Used in Morocco since the Marinid era — long before any modern brightening serum existed.

I

Indigotin

Anti-inflammatory

The primary blue pigment. Inhibits melanin-transfer enzymes, contributing to a gradual, even brightening effect over consistent use.

II

Isatin

Antioxidant

A naturally occurring compound that supports keratinocyte regeneration — essentially, fresh skin coming to the surface faster.

III

Tryptanthrin

Antibacterial

Shown in traditional use to calm inflamed follicles and reduce acne-causing bacteria without disrupting the skin barrier.
